Canberra Raiders Australian Rugby League’s Team Journey To Excellence
The Canberra Raiders NRL team have won 3 premierships since the team’s introduction to the National Rugby League competition in 1982. The Canberra Raiders dominated the NRL competition during the late 1980s and early 1990s. With their first-ever NRL Grand Final win in 1989. In 2023 the Raiders had a great year and made the finals.
The Team’s History
The Canberra Raiders first joined the competition in 1982 as a way to spread Rugby League across the whole country and give the capital of Australia (Canberra) its own team.
Early on in the Canberra Raider’s induction into the NRL competition, the club was fortunate and was able to secure coach Tim Sheens. Tim Sheens led the club to 3 NRL Grand Finals wins in 1989, 1990 and 1994.
Team Colors 2024
The Canberra Raiders have had the same club colors since their induction into the NRL competition, yellow, green, blue white, and lime.
They have played around with the jersey combinations over the years, but always kept the same team colours.
