NRL Dolphins Fight Hard Against The Titans

The new rugby league team on the block the NRL Dolphins played a tough match against the Titans on the weekend.

With the Titans putting on an early blitz scoring 24 points in the first 25 minutes putting the NRL Dolphins on the back foot early playing catch for the remainder of the Rugby League match.

NRL Dolphins Fought Back Hard

The Titans are an experienced team and have been together for years. The Dolphins are in their first year as a team together, it is expected we will see some ups and down from the Rugby League team the Dolphins as they start to glue together.

NRL Dolphins hooker Jeremy Marshall-King put on some great hits, and in one tackle dislodged the ball from the opposing side which lead to a try. The final score was 40-16, the rugby league match is being reported as a thrashing. If you have ever played a game of league to be down 24 points in the first quarter of a match it is hard to recover the momentum and the NRL Dolphins did well to reign it in and fight back hard to make it 40-16 at full time.

What We Liked

We liked that Felise Kaufusi got his hands dirty and tried to inspire his teammates to get revved up and throw down it cost him a stint in the sin bin but no biggy. This is what a leader does and is key in isolating potential players who help teams win premierships.

The forwards played well but lacked a bit of agility and let too many one on one opportunities arise for the Titans against its smaller players. The Titans took advantage of this and ran the ball hard at the Dolphin’s smaller players, especially the halves.

Why we like this –  this usually comes down to match fitness and too many 1 and 2s in the tackle, not 2’s and 3 people in the tackle. This can be sorted at training and rectified easily by coach Wayne Bennett. If you were a forward for the Dolphins you could probably be expecting to be running a lot of laps at training in the coming weeks and burpees.

Coach Wayne Bennett Half Time Speech

Coach Wayne Bennett gave his team a good rev-up at half time which indicates he is expecting big things from his team in 2023 despite coach Wayne Bennett playing his expectations down in the off-season. A fired-up Wayne Bennett doesn’t happen too often and it is exciting news for the Rugby League team the NRL Dolphins.

The Halves Weren’t As Bad As The News Reported

It is hard for new halves to gel and just make it happen. Both halves playing for the Dolphins fought hard to come back but again were isolated in 1 on 1 attacks by the Titans. In the next few weeks, you will see the players gain more match fitness and this won’t be as much of a problem moving forward as you see the NRL Dolphins forwards start to protect the smaller players more and not allow these 1 on 1 situations to occur.

Jesse Bromwich Played Well

The captain Jesse Bromwich put in a solid performance and after the game in an interview admitted the team needs to do better. Young Katoa was given 18 minutes of playing time and looked impressive adding to the Dolphin’s depth.
